A Reflection: Director General of Health, Malaysia – KKM

“A reflection: As we edge towards the month of March 2014, means that I have successfully completed one year in office as the DG of Health. Take a moment and reflect on what we have and have not accomplished. Take a moment to take stock of what has happened thus far and learn regretful events so as not to repeat them in future. I believe in the system and believe in leading the healthcare transformation, sharing the vision and mission of Ministry of Health. I would like to thank you all for the continuous support and the opportunity to dare to make a difference to serve the country.

One year has passed Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah was appointed as Director General of Health, Malaysia. This visionary man has addressed a wide range of health issues including healthcare transformation and financing, dengue outbreak, H7N9 H1N1 surveillance, environmental health, pharmaceutical and food safety, strategic communication, clinical registries, hospital mesra ibadah and many more. The Malaysian Medical Gazette (MMG) and its parent body The Malaysian Integrated Medical Professionals Association (MIMPA) wishes to congratulate Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah on his many achievements over his maiden year in office, especially his foresight and willingness to implement new approaches to engage the community including collaborating with MMG & MIMPA to promote health awareness both online and on the ground. As we grow to improve in strength, number and quality, we will always remember his wise words.
